Wishing Everyone a Great 4th of July.
Today we celebrate our independence. So many battles have followed. Here, on American soil and overseas, to protect what our forefathers envisioned for our nation. We have lost loved ones. Seen many family members and friends return to us, damaged in mind, body and spirit. And still we stand, battered definitely, bruised certainly but we speak, we reach out to those around us even when it seems no one is listening.
For me, that is the American spirit. Our colors don’t run. That is what makes this holiday especially important to me. It is a celebration of our unity against overwhelming odds, whether at home or abroad. When I look at our flag I see a symbol of hope, determination and strength. Not one group, not one person but many committed to what our forefathers hoped for us.
Celebrate with fireworks, friends and family!
But, please, don’t forget why we have this day and what it means.
