Waiting is a definite fact of life when you are caregiving. The doctor’s office & emergency room are two of the areas most visited. ER wait times can be as little as 5 hours or as much as 7 or 8. Cell usage may be prohibited. I pack a crisis bag that I keep beside the door. It contains a current list of medications, something that, in my personal experience, is a question asked at every visit. In a time of crisis or stress I don’t depend on my memory.
I also include my own medications in case of an extended wait. A bottle or water and snack bars mean I won’t be stepping away at that very moment when a medical professional is ready with information on my loved one. Finally, since I am a reader, a book.
My crisis bag is light weight & washable so that when I come home and reload, I will be ready for the next crisis or visit.
